Sticklebacks and gulls: Studying  life-history evolution in wild populations

In our research, we use two wild vertebrates, the three-spined stickleback (Gasterosteus aculeatus) and yellow-legged gull (Larus michahellis), to address how early development influences robustness and flexibility of life-history strategies from the maternal and offspring perspectives, respectively. The two species have long been among the most important and interesting vertebrate models for ecological and evolutionary studies in natural populations.
